Burbidge, F.W.

London, L.Reeve & Co., 1875.

1st edition. tall 8vo [26x16cm]. very bright condition hardback in the original gilt decorated maroon cloth binding. But the gutta-percha backing to the pages has dried out and is disintegrating, with the pages starting to work loose; a common problem with this style of late 19th-century binding.

All 48 tissue-guarded colour lithograph plates are present and in clean and fresh condition. a large, but neatly written, ownership inscription is present in white ink on the front paste-down.
