the Anchor Line steamship 'Caledonia' was stranded near Cape Cod on December 31st 1863 when sailing from Portland to New York.
Given up as a total loss, she was later salvaged and renamed 'Concordia'.
There is a small pencil name D.H.[?] Mayo, which may identify the photographer.
