a very scarce privately printed book that recounts a two week cruise made by the author on board the s.s.'Vestal' as a guest of Captain Robert Hoare, an Elder Brother of Trinity House, as he carried out his official inspection of the Home-Waters Lighthouses and Lightships, which stretched from Orfordness on the east coast of Suffolk to Beachy Head in Sussex.
The book contains excellent descriptions of the lighthouses and lightships as well as narrating the course and events of the voyage.
