some foxing and browning to the plates and a little foxing elsewhere, but generally clean. in the original green textured cloth binding, a little worn and marked and with neat repair to the upper hinge and joint.
an important early work on naval tactics, originally published in France in 1697. this is the first full translation of the text into English and includes some additional material and updating of the illustrations by the translator
with a signed presentation inscription from Captain Boswall to Captain Chevalier Eyckhoth of His Majesty's Belgian corvette 'La Rein Maria Louis'
