scattered foxing, heavy to verso of frontispiece, but generally clean.
in a contemporary patterned calf binding, rubbed with some surface leather loss and spine wear. only one spine lettering-piece present. joints a little cracked, but still firm.
two gift inscriptions dated 1809 and 1840 to recto of front free end-paper.
not considered one of the better contemporary biographies, but a scarce work and a necessary addition to any Nelson collection.
